Exercise – Add products to supplemental hierarchies

For this exercise, use the demo data in the USRT company.

Scenario

In this exercise, you will add two products to a supplemental hierarchy in two different ways. For the first method, you will add the actual product, similar to how it would be done when you are creating items one-by-one. In the second method, you will add products in bulk, like you would do when populating existing items to a new category hierarchy.

1. In the USRT company, go to Retail and Commerce > Products and categories > Released products by category.
2. In the list, find product 0007.
3. On the Product tab of the Action Pane, in the Set up group, select Product categories.
4. Select New in the Action Pane.
5. In the Category hierarchy field, select Fabrikam Navigation hierarchy.
6. In the Category field, go to the Fabrikam Fashion > Accessories > Gloves and Scarves node.
7. Select the Gloves and Scarves node and then select OK.
8. Go to Retail and Commerce > Products and categories > Supplemental product categories.
9. In the list, select the Fabrikam Navigation hierarchy.
10. In the Action Pane, on the Category hierarchy tab in the Maintain group, select Edit.
11. In the Fabrikam Fashion hierarchy, go to the Fabrikam Fashion > Accessories > Gloves and Scarves node. The recently added 0007 item is in the Products section.
12. In the Products group, select Add products.
13. In the Available products list, select item 0008.
14. Select Add.
15. Select OK.
