Configuration

Configuration is the first step in the process and also the largest. When you create a catalog, you’ll need several other connections to make sure that the prices, products, and hierarchies are assigned correctly.

To create a catalog, go to Retail and Commerce > Catalogs and assortments > All catalogs and then select New on the All Catalogs page.

Then, complete the following steps:

  1. Associate the catalog with one or more channels.
    1. You can only use items that are linked to your selected channel assortments.
    2. You can add multiple channels by selecting Add on the Commerce channels FastTab of the Catalog Setup page.
    3. Ensure that your Catalog type is set to B2B.
  2. Associate the navigation hierarchy.
    1. Before you can add products to a catalog, you’ll need to assign the correct navigation hierarchies that are associated with the channels that you’ve selected.
    2. You can assign a default navigation hierarchy with each channel by going to Retail and Commerce > Channel Setup > Channel categories and product attributes.
  3. Specify effective dates and expiration dates. On the header of a catalog, you can specify which dates that the catalog will be effective from and when it will expire.
  4. Add and categorize products.
    1. Select the node in the navigation hierarchy or select the Add products button to add products that this catalog covers.
    2. You can change these products anytime before you validate the catalog.
  5. Associate price groups.
    1. After you’ve added products, link one or more price groups to the catalog by selecting Price groups under the Pricing tab on the header record of the catalog.
    2. All trade agreements, price adjustment journals, and advanced discounts that have been linked to the same price group will be applied when customers order from the catalog that’s associated with the price group.
  6. Associate a customer hierarchy.
    1. Select Assign hierarchies to link one or more customer hierarchies to the catalog.
    2. You can’t create a new customer hierarchy at this point; you’ll need to go to the Customer hierarchies page to do so.
  7. Associate default dimensions. On the Catalog tab, select Attribute groups to assign default dimension attributes for refining the size, style, and color of your products.
  8. Set attribute metadata.
    1. Along with selecting the Attribute groups for your catalog, you can set up the attribute metadata for it as well.
    2. The Set attribute metadata button on the Catalog tab, under the Attribute section, allows you to select the attributes that should be viewable and refinable.
    3. These attributes are searchable by default.
